28-year-old news anchor Supreet Kaur showed exemplary commitment towards her job when she read out the news of her husband’s death in a car accident.
Supreet Kaur was going through a live news bulletin when a reporter called in giving details of an accident involving a Renault Duster at Pithara in Mahasamund district earlier in the day.
The reporter stated that three people had been killed , among the five who were traveling in the Renault Duster. It was enough for Supreet to realise that one of the dead could be her husband, Harsad Kawade, who was also to travel on the same route in a Duster. She broke down, but only after having walked out of the TV studio after the news hour.
An editor at IBC 24 said the channel was “extremely proud” of the way Kaur handled this most nightmarish of situations. “It speaks volumes about her sense of duty and professionalism that she continued, and kept her calm for another ten minutes. The editor further stated that staffers came to know that Supreet’s husband was among the dead but they did not have the courage to tell it to her while she read the news.
